Of Machines was an American post-hardcore band from Atlanta, Georgia. Formed in 2006 under the original name We Are Kings, the group signed to Rise Records on October 14, 2008. Their debut and only album As If Everything Was Held in Place was released in 2009. Following the album's release, Of Machines embarked on a regional tour throughout North America, performing with notable bands such as Dance Gavin Dance and Sleeping with Sirens. Vocalist Dylan Anderson left the band in 2010 due to financial burdens, leading to a three-year hiatus. The group reformed in 2013 with plans to release an EP titled Chroma Season/Chroma Dreamcoat, but these efforts were ultimately abandoned. On January 13 and 16, 2024, the demos for As If Everything Was Held in Place were published on streaming platforms. Bennett Freeman, the unclean vocalist and keyboardist of the band, passed away in 2022.
