Biography

Donald Glen Rigsby, born on February 18, 1968, in Isonville, Kentucky, is an American multi-instrumentalist and producer known for his contributions to bluegrass music. Rigsby's musical journey began at age five when he learned to sing from a tape of Ralph Stanley singing "Hills of Home" and "Little Maggie". He later befriended Ricky Skaggs and Keith Whitley, learning guitar, fiddle, dulcimer, and mandolin. Rigsby joined the Lonesome River Band after Dan Tyminski left, appearing on the albums One Step Forward (1996), Finding the Way (1998), and Talkin' to Myself (2000). He was also a member of Longview with Dudley Connell and James King. Rigsby's solo career began in 1998 with the release of A Vision, which won the Association of Independent Music's Gospel Album of the Year award, followed by Empty Old Mailbox (2000) and The Midnight Call (2003).
