Biography
Mountain Heart, an American country music band, was formed in 1998 by Barry Abernathy, Steve Gulley, Adam Steffey, and Jim VanCleve. The group blended elements of rock, jam band, country, blues, jazz, folk, and bluegrass. Their debut album, Mountain Heart, was released in 1999 on Doobie Shea Records, followed by an all-gospel release, The Journey. In 2001, they signed with Skaggs Family Records and released No Other Way, which earned nominations for Album of the Year and Entertainer of the Year by the IBMA. The band continued to release albums such as Force of Nature (2004) and Wide Open (2005). In 2007, they released their first live album, The Road That Never Ends - The Live Album, on Rural Rhythm Records. Notable members included Adam Steffey, who won the Mandolin Player of the Year Award multiple times. In 2018, they released the album Soul Searching.
