Djuena Tikuna, born Denizia Araújo Peres on March 5, 1984, in Terra IndÃgena Umariaçu II, Tabatinga, Amazonas, Brazil, is a Brazilian singer. She began composing poetry and music to overcome language barriers at school. In 2006, Djuena formed the group Magüita with her brothers, performing in Manaus and receiving invitations to sing at universities and schools. Her breakthrough came in August 2017 when she became the first indigenous woman to perform a musical show at the Amazon Theatre in Manaus, presenting her album Tchautchiüãne (2017). This album was nominated for the Indigenous Music Awards for Best International Indigenous Artist that year. In 2019, Djuena released her second album, Wiyaegü (2022), which she presented internationally. She also performed the Brazilian national anthem in Ticuna during significant events.
