Martin Schmidt, known professionally as DJ Dean, was born on October 25, 1975, in Germany. He began his career as a DJ and producer in the electronic music scene, specializing in hard trance and hardstyle genres. DJ Dean gained initial attention in 1992 with his work in hardcore techno and gabber, notably as a member of Nordcore GMBH. His breakthrough moment came with an appearance at the Time Tunnel Rave in 1995, which led to his appointment as a resident DJ at the Tunnel Club in Hamburg. DJ Dean's career saw significant milestones with the release of several albums and singles including his debut Ballanation in 2000, followed by Balla Nation Episode 2 (2002) and Protect Your Ears (2003). Throughout his career, DJ Dean has collaborated with various artists under different aliases such as Van Nilson, Angel Beats, Barbarez, Dynamic D's, Sylver Liquid, Impegement Syndrom. He is also known for his work as an exclusive producer for Tunnel Records, where he released compilations like DJ Networx and Tunnel Trance Force. In 2023 he returned with his seventh album Solo.
