Arena, an English progressive rock band formed in 1995 by Mick Pointer and Clive Nolan, released their debut album Songs From The Lions Cage in the same year. The original lineup also featured vocalist John Carson and bassist Cliff Orsi, both of whom were later replaced by Paul Wrightson and John Jowitt respectively. Following these early changes, the band continued to develop their sound and lineup through a series of studio and live releases. In 1998, Arena released The Visitor, a concept album often regarded as one of their key works, structured around interconnected songs. After further lineup shifts and activity from members in side projects, the band returned with Immortal? in 2000, featuring Rob Sowden on vocals and Ian Salmon on bass. Other releases include Contagion (2003), followed by Pepperâs Ghost (2005), and The Seventh Degree of Separation (2011), the latter marking a return after a longer studio hiatus. In 2015, they released The Unquiet Sky, which introduced bassist Kylan Amos into the lineup.
