Biography

Spock's Beard, an American progressive rock band from Los Angeles, California, was formed in 1992 by brothers Neal and Alan Morse. The duo began recording demos with Nick D'Virgilio on drums and Dave Meros on bass, releasing their debut album The Light in 1995. This album featured long-form compositions like "The Light" and "Go the Way You Go", earning praise from fans of progressive rock. Neal Morse left Spock's Beard in 2002 to pursue a solo career, with Nick D'Virgilio taking over vocal duties until his departure in 2011. The band continued releasing albums such as Beware of Darkness (1996), Day for Night (1999), and the concept album Snow (2002). Notable releases after Neal Morse's departure include Feel Euphoria (2003), Octane (2005), Spock's Beard (2006), and X (2010). Ted Leonard joined as the new vocalist in 2011, contributing to albums like Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep (2013), which featured two tracks co-written by Neal Morse. The band followed up with albums The Oblivion Particle (2015), Noise Floor (2018), and seven years later, The Archeoptimist (2025).
