Biography

Diesel Park West, an English alternative rock band from Leicester, was formed in 1980. Initially known as The Filberts and occasionally as The Psychedelic Filberts, the band's main influences included the West Coast sound of bands like Moby Grape, Buffalo Springfield, and Love. Their early releases included tracks such as "Lady Friend" and "Rain", which appeared on various compilation albums. In 1987, Diesel Park West signed with Food Records after releasing their debut single "When the Hoodoo Comes". This led to the release of their first album Shakespeare Alabama in January 1989, which reached Number 55 in the UK Albums Chart. The band supported Big Country on tour and released notable singles like "Jackie's Still Sad" and "Like Princes Do". In September 1990, they recorded their second album Decency, which was released in February 1992 and peaked at Number 57 in the UK Albums Chart. The band left EMI in 1993 and signed with Demon Records for their third album Versus The Corporate Waltz. They continued to release albums, including Freak Gene in 1995 and Hip Replacement in August 1998. Throughout the 2000s, Diesel Park West released several more albums, such as King Of Ghosts (2002) and Damned Anthems (2007). Their discography includes twelve official albums and six singles that appeared in the UK Singles Chart.
