Detlef Malinkewitz, born in 1966 in Baesweiler, Germany, is a singer who initially gained recognition as an Elvis Presley impersonator. In the early 1990s, he performed in Las Vegas and released In Erinnerung â The Very Best of Elvis Presley in 1993. Malinkewitz achieved his breakthrough in 1996 with the project Ghetto People feat. L-Viz, releasing a cover of "In the Ghetto" by Elvis Presley. This single entered the charts in multiple countries and remained in the top 10 for four weeks in Germany, earning a gold certification for over 250,000 sales. He was awarded the RSH-Gold-Preis for "Cover-Hit des Jahres" in 1997. In 2018, he returned to music with Feeling Good, an album recorded at Wisseloord Studios in the Netherlands featuring rock and soul classics. The album reached number 13 in the German album charts.
