Der Dritte Raum is the electronic project of Andreas Krüger from Göttingen, Germany, who serves as producer and performer. Krüger first gained attention after presenting a demo tape to Svenâ¯Väth at a techno party in the early 1990s, leading to a contract with the label Harthouse; the labelâs bankruptcy in 1997 prompted a move to Virgin and later to Resopal Schallware in 2005. His debut studio album, Mental Modulator (1994â03â07), showcased a blend of progressive techno, acid, Goa, and trance influences, while the subsequent releases Wellenbad (1996â03â07) and Raumgleiter (1998â03â07) refined his sound toward more complex rhythmic structures and hypnotic textures. The 2000 album Distanz marked a stylistic shift toward playful electronic elements, and the single "Der Schrittmacher" (2001â04â30) continued this evolution; "Hale Bopp" (2001â04â30) and its 2013 remix CD further expanded his catalogue. Krügerâs live performances, often joined by Ralfâ¯Uhrlandt, are noted for their improvisational use of Apple laptops and modular synthesizers. The single Plutonium (2007â07â03) and the 2009 single "Swing Bop"(2009â11â09) added to his discography.
