Heike Hielscher, known professionally as Denise, was born on March 29, 1958, in Duisburg, Germany. She began her singing career at nine and studied social pedagogy. Her breakthrough came in 1979 with the song "Fire-Storm". In 1982, she participated in the German selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with "Die Nacht Der Lüge", finishing fourth. Her most successful single, "Schenk Mir Keine Rosen", was released in the same year. Denise appeared on popular television shows and collaborated with Jürgen Renfordt on the duet "Kein Wort Zuviel". After a period of absence, she returned to performing in June 2006.
