Deep Banana Blackout, a funk rock band formed in 1995, originated from New York and Connecticut. The group initially played Soul and R&B covers before transitioning to original material, becoming a notable force on the East Coast underground live music scene. Their first studio album, Live in the Thousand Islands, was released in 1997 and recorded in Hartford, Connecticut. Deep Banana Blackout's second release, Rowdy Duty, followed in 1999 as a double live CD. The band's members also contributed to other projects, including John Scofieldâs album Bump. In 2001, they performed at major venues such as the Denver Fillmore and toured with the Allman Brothers Band. Notable albums include Feel the Peel (2001) and Release the Grease (2002). Deep Banana Blackout's live performances were celebrated for their extended improvisations and energetic shows, featuring songs by artists like Sly and the Family Stone and James Brown.
