Biography

Deadeye Dick was an American alternative rock trio formed in 1991 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The band consisted of vocalist and guitarist Caleb Guillotte, bassist Mark Adam Miller, and drummer Billy Landry. They took their name from Kurt Vonnegut's novel of the same name. Initially, Deadeye Dick gained a loyal following by performing extensively across the southeastern United States. Their breakthrough came with the regional hit "New Age Girl", which was popular on local radio stations in New Orleans and Atlanta. In 1994, Deadeye Dick released their debut album A Different Story under Ichiban Records. The album's success was propelled by the inclusion of "New Age Girl" in the soundtrack of the 1994 film Dumb and Dumber. This exposure turned the song into a national hit, peaking at number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1995. The following year, they released their second album, Whirl, but it did not achieve the same level of success as their debut. Deadeye Dick disbanded later that year. Caleb Guillotte and Mark Adam Miller continued to be active in New Orleans' music scene as producers.
