Biography
Better known as Darin, Darin Zanyar is a Swedish singer of Kurdish origin, born in Stockholm on June 2, 1987. As a child, he developed a passion for music, listening to artists such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. He composed his first songs at the age of 14. He shot to fame in 2004, aged just 16, when he took part in the first season of Swedish Idol, finishing as a finalist. Signed by Sony/BMG, he released his first album, The Anthem, in 2005. It was a huge success, reaching No. 1 in Sweden, and was followed the same year by Darin, also at No. 1. The following year, Break the News again reached No.1, but Flashback in 2008 broke the streak and only managed to reach tenth place. However, this was no more than a bump in the road, as the public turned his next four albums into number ones: from Lovekiller in 2010 to Tvillingen in 2017, via Exit in 2013 and Fjärilar I Magen in 2015. After 2017, Darin released a number of singles, which also found their way into the local charts: from the duet "Breathing Your Love" with Kat DeLuna (No. 2 in 2008) and the No. 1 "Viva la Vida" in 2009, there were dozens of hits such as "En säng av rosor" (No. 7 in 2020) and "What's the Point" (No. 8 in 2022). In 2023, he unveiled the album En annan dag, his 5th number-one album in a row since 2010, followed by the hits "Fantasi" in 2024 and "Det sista jag behöver " in 2025.
