Biography

Teen sensation Carly Rae Jepsen finished third on the 2007 series of talent show 'Canadian Idol' but went on to huge global stardom thanks to the endorsement of Justin Bieber. Born and raised in Mission, British Columbia, Jepsen was signed to Fontana/Maple Music after the show and released a cover of John Denver's 'Sunshine On My Shoulders'. Her debut album 'Tug of War' (2011) proved a small hit in Canada but it was when Bieber tweeted about her track 'Call Me Maybe' that things really took off. With more than 27 million hits on YouTube, the single topped the charts in the UK, US, Canada and nine other countries. The EP 'Curiosity' (2012) was released in her homeland and she was soon at work on her second album 'Kiss', which she released in 2012. 'Kiss' won Juno Awards for Album of the Year and Pop Album of the Year and she won Single of the Year for 'Call Me Maybe'. After taking a break from recording to star in a Broadway production of 'Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella', she returned to the studio to record her third album. The lead single, 'I Really Like You', was released in 2015 followed shortly after by the album 'Emotion'. In 2016 she played Frenchy in Fox's 'Grease: Live' and released 'Emotion: Side B', an EP featuring tracks that didn't make the album. 'Party for One', the first single from her fourth album, was released in 2018 followed by 'Now That I Found You' and 'No Drug Like Me'. The album, 'Dedicated', was released in May 2019.
