Daniel Keyes Tashian, also known as Daniel Tashian, born in 1974 in Norwalk, Connecticut, is an American musician, songwriter, and music producer based in Nashville. The son of Barry Tashian, a member of the rock band The Remains, Daniel began his musical journey by learning multiple instruments and writing songs during high school. In the 1990s, he embarked on a solo career as a folk-rock musician, releasing his debut album Sweetie in 1996. Tashian's career took a significant turn when he began writing songs for other artists. He joined Big Yellow Dog Publishing Company and contributed to numerous country hits. His breakthrough as a producer came with Golden Hour, Kacey Musgraves' 2018 album, which he co-wrote, produced, and played multiple instruments on. The album reached Number 1 on the Country charts and number 4 on the official charts, earning Tashian two Grammy Awards in 2019 for Album of the Year and Best Country Album.
