Biography

Born Daniel Chan Hiu-tung on September 3rd, 1975 in Hong Kong, Daniel Chan is a Mandopop and Cantopop singer/songwriter and actor who rose to fame during the '90s. After honing his singing skills under the tutelage of revered vocal instructor Master Tai Si Ching, he landed a recording contract with Universal in the early '90s and garnered acclaim for his debut 1995 album, Fly With Me. That same year, he scooped the national award for "most popular male singer of the year" and released a number of talked-about follow-up albums for Universal, including U R My Only Love (1996), Heart Touch (1997), and Electric Joy EP (1997). His success during the '90s and early '00s paved the way for comparisons to Hong Kong's so-called "heavenly kings", and he was later honoured as one of the four Hong Kong "princes of Canto-pop". He left Universal in 2003 and after a five-year break from music returned in 2008 with a celebrated new album, Love moments, before disappearing again for three years. He re-emerged in 2011 with his 11th Chinese album So Hot and dropped Circle two years later. In 2022, he made another comeback with two new singles, "It's Real" and "Sunset City".
