Biography

Dan Romer, born on 24 March 1980 in Manhattan, New York City, is an American composer, songwriter, producer and multi‑instrumentalist. He began his career playing guitar and keyboards in local bands before shifting focus to film scoring, with his first notable work on the independent feature Beasts of the Southern Wild in 2012. Dan Romer’s subsequent projects include the Beasts of No Nation score (2015), Chasing Coral (2017), and the Ubisoft title Far Cry 5 (2018). He scored the Emmy‑winning Jim: The James Foley Story (2016) and the HBO miniseries Station Eleven (2022), both receiving nominations. Romer produced the chart‑topping single "Say Something" for A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera (2015), and co‑produced "Treat You Better" for Shawn Mendes (2016). In 2021 he composed the score for Pixar’s Luca, the most‑watched streaming film of that year. Other releases include Zoe (2018), Skin (2019), Crater (2023), Genie (2023), Lilo & Stitch (2025), and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Season 1 (2026).
