Dan Romer, born on 24 March 1980 in Manhattan, Newâ¯York City, is an American composer, songwriter, producer and multiâinstrumentalist. He began his career playing guitar and keyboards in local bands before shifting focus to film scoring, with his first notable work on the independent feature Beasts of the Southern Wild in 2012. Dan Romerâs subsequent projects include the Beasts of No Nation score (2015), Chasing Coral (2017), and the Ubisoft title Far Cryâ¯5 (2018). He scored the Emmyâwinning Jim: The James Foley Story (2016) and the HBO miniseries Stationâ¯Eleven (2022), both receiving nominations. Romer produced the chartâtopping single "Say Something" for Aâ¯Greatâ¯Bigâ¯World and Christinaâ¯Aguilera (2015), and coâproduced "Treat You Better" for Shawnâ¯Mendes (2016). In 2021 he composed the score for Pixarâs Luca, the mostâwatched streaming film of that year. Other releases include Zoe (2018), Skin (2019), Crater (2023), Genie (2023), Lilo & Stitch (2025), and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Season 1 (2026).
