Daddy DJ is a French dance project that was founded in France in 1999. Behind the name are the producers David Le Roy, Jean-Christophe Belval and Stéphane Deschamps, who work in the field of Eurodance and electronic pop music. The project emerged at the end of the 1990s in the French club scene and was aimed at a young audience with catchy melodies and childlike vocals. In 2000, they released the single "Daddy DJ", which made it into the charts across Europe and reached high positions in France and Germany, among other countries. The song became the project's defining hit and was later covered and remixed many times. In 2001, the debut album Daddy DJ (2001) is released, which contains the title track and other singles such as "The Girl in Red" (2000) and "Over You" (2001). In the following years, the project released further versions and international adaptations of the hit, including an animated series loosely based on the song.
