Biography

Cruiserweight was an American rock band from Austin, Texas, consisting of vocalist Stella Maxwell, guitarist Urny Maxwell, bassist David Hawkins, and drummer Yogi Maxwell. Formed in 1999, their first EP, First Day of School, was released that year. In 2005, they debuted with the album Sweet Weaponry on Doghouse/Heinous Records. The band gained local attention by opening for groups like New Found Glory and Alkaline Trio. Their song "To Be Quite Honest" featured in the video game Saints Row. Cruiserweight released their second album, Big Bold Letters, in October 2008. They announced their breakup in March 2010 and held two farewell shows that April. The band won "Best Alternative/Punk Band" at the Austin Music Awards in both 2002 and 2003.
