Cruel Youth is a rock band formed in 2015, fronted by Teddy Sinclair, who previously released two solo albums under the name Natalia Kills. The band was established with Sinclair's husband, Willy Moon, following their relocation to the United States after being removed from the New Zealand version of The X Factor. Their first release was "Mr. Watson", uploaded to an audio streaming service in February 2016. The band's official debut single, "Diamond Days" produced by Paro, was released on April 15, 2016 and gained notable attention when it was featured in a 2016 runway show by fashion designer Tom Ford. Their first EP, +30mg, followed on September 16, 2016, and included the single "Hatefuck". In subsequent years, Cruel Youth released non-album singles such as "Devil in Paradise" (2018) and "Mr. Badman" for The Invitation soundtrack (2022). In 2023, the band released a cover of "Sunny" by Bobby Hebb.
