Biography
Crimpshrine was an American punk rock band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1982 by Aaron Cometbus and Jesse Michaels as S.A.G., Jeff Ott joined soon after. After Michaels' departure in 1984, Ott took over vocals, and the band renamed itself Crimpshrine. Pete Rypins joined as bassist in October 1986, marking a period of increased activity. Their debut EP Sleep, What's That? was released in January 1988. In September 1988, Crimpshrine embarked on their only United States tour. The group disbanded in May 1989 following the release of the EP Quit Talkin' Claude.... Cometbus moved on to Pinhead Gunpowder and other bands, Ott went on to front Fifteen, bassist Paul Curran joined Monsula, and Rypins played for Tilt and the Tantrums.
