Biography

New Age Steppers was a British post-punk and dub collective formed in 1980, led by producer Adrian Sherwood. The group featured members from prominent British post-punk bands such as Ari Up and Viv Albertine of The Slits, Mark Stewart and Bruce Smith of The Pop Group, Keith Levene of Public Image Ltd, and Vicky Aspinall of The Raincoats. Their debut album The New Age Steppers was released in 1980 on On-U Sound, followed by Action Battlefield (1981) and Foundation Steppers (1982). Other releases included the collaborative album Threat to Creation (1981). Notable singles included "Fade Away" (1980) and "My Love" (1981). In 2012, the album Love Forever (2012), recorded with Ari Up before her death, was released.
