Biography

Henry Clay Hart III, born July 1, 1936, in Providence, Rhode Island, was an American country music singer and guitarist. After attending Amherst College as a theater arts major, he pursued a music career and was discovered by Lawrence Welk while performing in West Virginia. He made his first network television appearance in July 1969 as a member of The Lawrence Welk Show. Hart was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance for his 1969 single "Spring". He released the album Spring on Metromedia in 1969. He remained on the show until 1975, after which he focused on concert tours. Henry Clay Hart passed away on July 28, 2022.
