Biography

Randall Clay Blaker, born on June 27, 1950 in Houston, Texas, is an American country musician and singer-songwriter. After returning to Texas in the 1970s, he formed the Texas Honky-Tonk Band and played with George Strait's Ace in the Hole Band. In 1982, Strait included Blaker's "The Only Thing I Have Left" on his album Strait from the Heart (1982). Blaker's songs have been recorded by numerous artists including Tim McGraw and Barbra Streisand. He released several albums with his band, notably Rumor Town in 1998, which was later recognized as one of the best Texas singer-songwriter albums of all-time. In 2002, Blaker announced his retirement from touring but continued writing songs, releasing a trilogy of EPs in 2015 and the album The Early Singles: 1978-1987 in 2016.
