Biography

Claude McKenzie, born on March 11, 1967, in Matimekosh, Quebec, Canada, is a Canadian singer of Innu descent. He began his musical journey at a young age, learning to play the guitar in Maliotenam near Sept-Îles. His early influences included Philippe McKenzie and Florent Vollant, with whom he formed the group Kashtin. The duo gained popularity across Quebec throughout the 1990s before disbanding. McKenzie's solo career began with the release of Innu Town in 1996. McKenzie has received two Juno Awards, in 2001 and 2005. He also released several notable albums, including Pishimuss (2004) and Inniu (2009).
