Biography
Radio Elvis mastermind Pierre Guénard was born in 1988, and from an early age he dreamed of becoming either a singer or a writer. He got his start on the slam scene between Poitiers and Nantes, opening for French slam star Grand Corps Malade. Leaving his Poitou region for the French capital in 2009, he called himself Radio Elvis, a pseudonym far removed from the "King" of Tupelo, since it was used for a project dedicated to... french chanson, or even the most refined rock. This highly literary project sees the shadows of Saint-Exupéry, Jack London and John Fante intertwining, and develops atmospheres nourished by introspective narratives and travel memories. With the arrival of two other musicians, Colin Russeil and Manu Ralambo, Radio Elvis became a fully-fledged band in 2013, releasing their first self-produced EP, Juste Avant la Ruée. This was supported by an effective first single, "La Traversée", whose minimalist video was inspired by "I'm Not a Young Man Anymore", directed by Andy Warhol with Lou Reed. In 2015, Radio Elvis signs a new EP, Les Moissons, buoyed by an airy single, "Au loin les pyramides". It sets the scene for the album Les Conquêtes, which is unveiled in March 2016 with the single "La Route", and released the following month.
