Chaine St. Aubin Downer Jr., known professionally as CJ Fly, was born on July 6, 1993, in Brooklyn, New York City. He is an American rapper and producer who began writing poetry by the fourth grade and started rapping by seventh grade. In 2011, he co-founded the hip-hop collective Pro Era with Joey Bada$$, Powers Pleasant, and Capital STEEZ. CJ Fly's breakthrough came in 2013 with his critically acclaimed mixtape Thee Way Eye See It. He released his debut studio album, Flytrap, in 2016, followed by Rudebwoy in 2020. In 2021, he released The Way I H(ear) It, Vol. 1, an instrumental album inspired by his production learning during the COVID-19 lockdown. CJ Fly's subsequent albums include Not What Youâre Expecting (2021) and HEALING FROM OUR WOUNDS (2023).
