Biography

Taking a cue from Southern rap artists like Kevin Gates, Soulja Slim, and Masta P, American rapper OMB Peezy manages to seamlessly combine his penchant for crafting gritty urban tales with a modern trap aesthetic. Born LeParis Dade in 1997 in Mobile, Alabama but raised in Sacramento, California, he made a splash in the Southern hip-hop scene with his 2016 debut single "Lay Down," which found an early champion in Bay Area rap legend E-40. Impressed by OMB Peezy's talent, he quickly added the young rapper to his own Sick Wid It/300 Entertainment imprint. His major-label debut, "When I Was Down," appeared in 2017 and was followed by the singles "Porch" and "Try Sumthin," both released ahead of the EP Humble Beginnings later that year. 2018 found OMB Peezy releasing music at a prolific pace, including a battery of singles and the mixtapes Loyalty Over Love and Young & Reckless with Sherwood Marty. Preacher to the Streets, his first studio full-length, finally hit retail in 2019. A second LP titled Too Deep for Tears saw the light in 2021 and featured cameos by King Von, Blac Youngsta, and Rylo Rodriguez. This collaborative spirit carried over to 2022 and "Mufasa," his joint single with fellow rapper G Herbo, hit Number 50 on the US Top 100 chart.
