Circ was a New York City-based Eurodance duo consisting of producer Alexander Perls and vocalist Madelin Lane. The pair met at a Sonic Youth concert in New York in 2001. At the time, Perls was working for video artist Matthew Barney, while Lane had recently moved to the city and was employed by a talent scout. They began collaborating when Perls invited Lane to provide vocals for a track he was producing. The project evolved into Circ. Their debut single, "Destroy She Said", was released in 2002 through the Berlin-based Low Spirit label and became a chart success in Germany, bringing the duo international attention. Their other releases include "Close Your Eyes" (2003) and the album Love Electric (2004).
