Biography

Jamar Rolando McNaughton, known as Chronixx, was born on October 10, 1992, in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica. Son of Selvin McNaughton aka Chronicle, he began songwriting at an early age and started his recording career at the age of 11. Chronixx gained significant attention in 2012 with singles such as "Warrior" and "Start a Fyah", which led to performances at major festivals like Reggae Sumfest. His EP Dread & Terrible was released on April 1, 2014, and topped the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart. In 2017, Chronixx released his debut album Chronology, which received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Reggae Album in 2018. He also won Culture Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, and Entertainer of the Year at the Linkage Awards in May 2014. Chronixx maintained a low public profile between 2020 and 2025, releasing little solo material during this period and collaborating with Sault collective, formed by British producer Inflo. Following a handful of rare live appearances, he made a significant return to the stage at Reggaeland, Milton Keynes, before released his sophomore album Exile in October 2025.
