Biography

The reggae artist Busy Signal was born "Reanno Devon Gordon" on January 24, 1979, in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica. Step Out, his debut collection of dancehall music, was released in 2006. Loaded followed in 2008, earning regional hits with the singles "Jail," "Whine Pon Di Edge," and "These Are the Days." He began breaking into the American market with 2010's D.O.B., which reached number 12 on the US Reggae Chart. Reggae Music Again hit number 5 on the same chart in 2012, and Busy Signal collaborated with No Doubt on the popular single "Push and Shove," which reached number 22 on the Billboard Alternative Digital Songs chart that spring. One year later, he appeared on "Watch Out for This (Bumaye)" with Major Lazer. The song appeared on the Top 40 charts in more than a half-dozen countries. Another collaboration, "Key to the City," was recorded with Tiwa Savage and became a chart-topping hit in Nigeria in 2016. Three years later, Parts of the Puzzle reached number 2 on the reggae charts in America. During the early 2020s, Busy Signal charted multiple hits on the Top 200 Shazam charts in several countries, including "Come Over (Missing You)," "Stay So," and 2024's "Happy Birthday."
