Biography
Christy Doran, born on June 21, 1949, in Greystones, County Wicklow, Ireland, is an Irish-Swiss musician and guitarist known for his contributions to jazz music. At eleven, he moved to Luzern, Switzerland, influenced by his father's ballad singing and later by Jimi Hendrix and John Coltrane. Doran co-founded the electric jazz group OM in 1972 with Bobby Burri, Urs Leimgruber, and Fredy Studer, toured Europe extensively, and performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival before disbanding in 1982. Doran's discography includes notable albums such as Harsh Romantics (1984), Henceforward (1989), and Azurety (1994). He played in the trio ADD in 1993 and later founded New Bag in 1997. He received the Kunst- und Kulturpreis der Stadt Luzern in 2003 for his contributions to music.
