Biography

Christy Baron is an American pianist and jazz and pop singer who emerged in New York in the 1980s and signed with Chesky Records in 1997. Born in Pittsburgh she grew up in a musical family, studied music at Carnegie-Mellon University and played in cabaret and local clubs. She went on to perform with artists such as David Sanborn, Natalie Cole, Carly Simon and Dr. John and for a time had a role in a Broadway production of the musical 'Les Miserables'. Her debut on Chesky, 'I Thought About You' in 1997, featured songs by John Lennon & Paul McCartney, Cole Porter and Stevie Wonder as well as the title track by James Van Heusen and Johnny Mercer. 'Steppin'' (2000) included songs by Lennon & McCartney, Prince and Phil Collins while 'Take This Journey' (2002) had songs by Carole King, Stephen Sondheim, David Finck as well as Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Her 2004 release 'Retrospective' contained a selection from her earlier albums. Her screen appearances have included the film 'Pants On Fire' (1998) and the TV show 'Law & Order'.
