Biography
Christopher Palameta, born in 1979 in Montreal, Quebec, is a Canadian oboist specializing in historically informed performance. He earned his graduate degree from McGill University and studied under Theodore Baskin, Washington McClain, and Bruce Haynes. In 2003, Palameta joined the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra as second oboist, marking a significant breakthrough in his career. From 2003 to 2007, he was a core member of the orchestra before relocating to France to collaborate with various European period ensembles. His discography includes notable albums such as Marais: Suites for Oboe (2015) and Janitsch: Sonate da Camera, Vol. 1 (2009). Palameta has participated in over 40 commercial recordings for labels like Sony BMG, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, and Naxos. His work has been recognized with nominations for awards such as the Prix Opus in 2009 and the German Record Critics' Award in 2015.
