Born in Carpentras (Vaucluse), France, on October 16, 1975, Christophe Martichon, aka Christophe Maé, became one of the top three best-selling French singers of 2007 with his debut album Mon Paradis (No. 1). This phenomenal success was followed by stage confirmation, resulting in the live album Comme à La Maison (No. 1). In March 2010, her second studio album, On Trace la Route, builds on this success, reaching No. 1 in the sales charts as soon as it is released. Its live counterpart, On Trace la Route - Le Live (No. 1 in 2011), is accompanied by the previously unreleased single "Un peu de blues" (No. 29). The reggae-calypso formula of the first album and the African ambience of the second are followed by the influence of Louisiana Cajun music on the third, entitled Je Veux du Bonheur (#1 in 2013), buoyed by the hit "Tombé sous le charme" (#11). Three years later, when L'Attrape-Rêves (no. 1) was released, the tone became more introspective, as on the single "Il est où le bonheur" (no. 4), a title that became a popular catchphrase. After a first American tour and a breakthrough in Quebec, Christophe Maé signs an eclectic fifth album, La Vie d'Artiste (No. 2 in 2019), followed by another sold-out tour. This is followed by Ma Vie d'Artiste Unplugged, featuring the duet "L'Ours " with Youssou N'Dour (No. 28). In 2023, on the album C'est Drôle la Vie, Christophe Maé invited Amadou & Mariam for the track "L'Amour" and Angélique Kidjo on the title track, before releasing the duet "Et un jour une femme" with Florent Pagny the same year. Two years later, he celebrated his birthday in song with "50 ans déjà ", followed by the album Fête Foraine (2026, no. 3), featuring the single "La Lune" and a duet with Francis Cabrel on "La Boutique des rêves".
