Biography
Christian Elsässer, born July 23, 1983, in Munich, Germany, is a German pianist known for his contributions to jazz. He began piano lessons in 1991 and studied at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium from 1999 to 2004. Elsässer formed his own trio in 1999, performing at festivals like the Rheingau Musik Festival. Elsässer has collaborated with orchestras including the Metropole Orkest and Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, and composed arrangements for artists such as Dee Dee Bridgewater and Kurt Elling. He also worked with musicians such as Klaus Doldinger and Adam Nussbaum. From 2008, he served as a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, becoming a professor of Jazz Composition and Jazz Piano in 2017. Elsässer's notable awards include the Dieter Ulrich Music Förderpreis in 2004 and an ECHO Jazz Award for his 2012 album Seemingly.
