Chris Walker, born in 1968 in Houston, Texas, is an American singer and musician known for his contributions to Contemporary R&B and Soul music. He began singing before he could speak, starting his musical journey as a member of the family gospel group The Walker Brothers. Walker's unique style includes playing the bass guitar upside down, inspired by Jimi Hendrix. Walker moved to New York City in 1987 where he became Ornette Colemanâs bassist for two and a half years before releasing his debut album First Time under Pendulum Records in September 1991. The album featured two Top Five R&B hits: "Giving You All My Love" and "Take Time", which peaked at number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. Walker's second album, Sincerely Yours, was released in 1993 and included the single "How Do You Heal a Broken Heart", which has garnered over 59 million views on streaming video platforms. After a decade-long hiatus from the public music scene, he returned with two more albums: I Know It's Love (2005) and Zone (2011). Walker's music remains popular internationally; in 2019, he performed at the Soul & Jazz Experience in South Africa and released a tribute album to Al Jarreau titled We're In This Love Together - Celebrating Al Jarreau.
