Chris Braide, born Christopher Braide on 6 February 1973 in Warrington, Lancashire is a British composer and songwriter whose career began in the early 1990s with the release of his debut solo album Chapter One â Chris Braide through Polydor Records. After signing with David A. Stewartâs Anxious Records, he issued the single "If I Hadn't Got You" in 1996, followed by the album Life in a Minor Key, produced at Electricâ¯Lady Studios; the record was later distributed by Atlantic Records in the United States. In 2012 Braide formed the duo Downes Braide Association with Geoff Downes, releasing Pictures of You and subsequent albums Suburban Ghosts (2015), Skyscraper Souls (2017) and Halcyon Hymns (2021), as well as a live recording Live in England (2019). His songwriting credits span collaborations with Sia, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and Davidâ¯Guetta, producing tracks such as "Helium" for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack and "Unstoppable" for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games advertising campaign, the latter reaching Number One on the Adult Pop Airplay Chart in 2022 after extended radio play. Braide has received an Ivor Novello award and a Grammy nomination, and his work is published worldwide by BMG Rights Management and Magical Thinking BMI.
