Biography

Chocolat, commonly stylized as ChoColat, was a South Korean girl group formed by Paramount Music in 2011. Led by singers Jaeyoon, Min Soa, Juliane, Tia, and Melanie, the group made its public debut on August 2, 2011, being introduced as South Korea's first mixed-race group. Their single "I Like It" was launched as the group made their performance debuts on prominent shows like Mnet's M! Countdown and KBS Music Bank. "Syndrome" was another single from that year, and the group had a cameo in the film Mr. Idol. By the end of 2011, Chocolat released I Like It, The First Mini-Album, reaching number 22 on the Circle Albums Chart. That same year, the group solidified its popularity by winning Rookie of the Year at the Seoul Success Awards. Subsequently, Chocolat continued to put out well-received singles such as "One More Day" (2012) and "Black Tinkerbell" (2013), both of which also charted in South Korea. Despite their growing popularity, the group disbanded after Tia announced her departure and Melanie confirmed in an interview that the group's contracts had concluded.
