Biography

Chicano Batman, a four-piece Chicano band based in Los Angeles, was formed in 2008 by Eduardo Arenas on bass, guitar, and vocals, Carlos Arévalo on guitars and keyboards, Bardo Martinez as lead vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist, and Gabriel Villa on drums. Their debut album Chicano Batman was released in 2010. The band gained attention with the single "Joven Navegante" (2012) and subsequent releases such as the EP Magma (2013) and the album Cycles of Existential Rhyme (2014). They supported Jack White on select dates of his Lazaretto Tour in 2015 and performed at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival that year. Their album Freedom Is Free was released in March 2017, followed by Invisible People in May 2020. The band's music has been featured in the film Lowriders (2016) and a commercial for Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky, singing "This Land Is Your Land." Chicano Batman is currently on an indefinite hiatus.
