Biography

Cherish the Ladies, an American female supergroup, was founded in New York in 1985 by Mick Moloney to showcase Irish musicians, with Joanie Madden on flute and tin whistle. The group debuted with the live album Cherish the Ladies: Irish Women Musicians in America (1985) and followed with Out and About (1993), New Day Dawning (1996), Threads of Time (1998), At Home (1999), and The Girls Won’t Leave The Boys Alone (2001), featuring Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger. Subsequent releases included On Christmas Night (2004) and Woman of the House (2005). The group performed, toured with step dancers, and contributed to Grammy‑nominated The Celtic Album with Boston Pops.
