Biography
Canadian musician Kevin William Crompton, known professionally as cEvin Key, was born on February 13, 1961. He began his career in the late 1970s playing drums for Vancouver rock band Bastille and later joined Images in Vogue, a new wave group that released their first single "Breaking Up" in April 1982. Key co-founded Skinny Puppy with Nivek Ogre in 1982, initially as a side project while he was with Images in Vogue. The duo's self-published EP Back & Forth was released in 1984, and they signed to Nettwerk Records. cEvin Key's partnership with Dwayne Goettel began in 1986, leading to albums such as Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse (1986) and Cleanse Fold and Manipulate (1987). After Skinny Puppy disbanded in 1995, cEvin Key formed the electronic noise group Download. His first solo album, Music For Cats, was released in 1998 on Subconscious Communications.
