Biography
Catherine Howe is an English singer-songwriter and actress who was born in Halifax, England, in 1950. She is famous for her hit single âHarryâ (1975) and for receiving an Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. Howe trained at the Corona Drama School and began an acting career in the late 1960s, performing in television series including Doctor Who, Z-Cars, and Dixon of Dock Green. She achieved early professional recognition in 1971 after recording her debut studio recording What a Beautiful Place at Trident Studios. Her discography includes the studio recordings Silent Mother Nature (1976), Dragonfly Days (1979), Princelet Street (2005), and English Tale (2010). She has collaborated with artists including Michael Giles and the composer Ennio Morricone, providing the lead vocal for the theme song of the film A Genius, Two Friends and an Idiot (1975). Howe returned to recording in 2002 following a hiatus from the music industry and has since published books on radical history.
