Biography

Carsten Daerr, born on September 16, 1975, in Berlin, Germany, is a jazz pianist. He took classical piano lessons from 1982 to 1995 and won multiple first prizes at the Schüler komponieren competition. Daerr studied jazz piano at the Universität der Künste Berlin from 1996 to 2002. He has worked on his own band projects since 1998, including collaborations with Carlos Bica and Kristiina Tuomi in the group Tuomi, and forming the Carsten Daerr Trio with Oliver Potratz and Eric Schaefer. Notable albums include Celebrating Ralph Siegel: Germany 12 Points (2006) and Berlin Calling (2007), featuring collaborations with Daniel Erdmann. As a sideman, he performed with musicians like Ed Schuller, Mack Goldsbury, Owen Howard, and Bobby McFerrin.
