Biography
Carleton Stone, born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Growing up in a musical family, he was influenced by artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. Stone began his professional music career fronting a band and self-producing their debut album, Drives the Big Wheel, in 2009. He transitioned to a solo artist in 2011 with the release of his eponymous album Carleton Stone, produced by Hawksley Workman. His third album, Draws Blood, co-produced by Jason Collett and Howie Beck, was released in 2014 and dedicated to his friend Jay Smith. In 2015, Stone formed the pop band Port Cities with Dylan Guthro and Breagh Mackinnon, which signed to turtlemusik/Warner Music in 2016 and released their debut album in 2017. In 2022, Stone began releasing singles from his fourth solo album Papercut, including "Ice Age", inspired by a story heard on CBC's As It Happens.
