Biography
Carine Bonnefoy was born on April 17, 1974, in Toulon, France, and is a jazz pianist, composer, musical arranger, conductor, and educator. She began studying piano at age seven under Yvan Belmondo and Ãlisabeth Couette, later adding saxophone to her repertoire. In 1992, she moved to Paris to study musicology at the Université Paris-Sorbonne and jazz studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Bonnefoy's professional career began with tours across Australia, Polynesia, and Europe. She recorded with Bob Mintzer and collaborated on projects with Joe Lovano, Walt Weiskopf, and Kenny Wheeler. In 1998, she formed her first quintet, releasing Something To Change in 2004. Her subsequent albums include Outre-Terres â Overlands (2006), featuring the Metropole Orchestra conducted by Vince Mendoza, and Tribal (2010). Bonnefoy has also arranged music for films like OSS 117: Le Caire, nid d'espions.
