Biography

Candeal, a Castilian folk group from Valladolid in the autonomous community of Castilla y León, began its career in the 1970s. The group's name is derived from candeal wheat, a traditional variety from Castilla. Candeal gained prominence through their performances at the closing ceremonies of the Virgen de San Lorenzo festivals in Valladolid and their weekly column in the newspaper El Norte de Castilla. Their discography includes notable albums such as Candeal (1980) and Coplas del Pueblo (1981). The group has released a total of 19 discs, showcasing their extensive repertoire of regional songs and cultural heritage.
