Camper Van Beethoven is an American rock band formed in Redlands, California, in 1983, later based in Santa Cruz and San Francisco. The group initially comprised David Lowery, Chris Molla, Victor Krummenacher, and Bill McDonald, with contributions from other musicians like Mike Zorn and Daniel Blume. After various lineup changes, the band released their debut album Telephone Free Landslide Victory in 1985, which included the hit single "Take the Skinheads Bowling". They signed with Virgin Records in 1987 and released several notable albums, including Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart (1988) and Key Lime Pie (1989). The band disbanded in April 1990 but reunited in 1999, releasing new material such as Tusk (2002) and New Roman Times (2004). Their later albums include La Costa Perdida (2013) and El Camino Real (2014).
