Biography

Born in Mount Druitt, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, on January 25, 1996, Calum Hood is best known as a member of the band 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS). Born into a family of Scottish and New Zealand descent, he practiced singing with his older sister and considered a career as a footballer, before devoting himself to learning music. Bassist, keyboardist and singer, he founded the band 5 Seconds of Summer in 2011 with his high school mates Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford and Ashton Irwin. The pop-rock outfit quickly achieved international success after touring with One Direction, and recorded five albums selling over ten million copies in ten years. An important part of the band's sound, Calum Hood develops a melodic, percussive bass playing style and proves to be one of the main composers, exploring different genres over the course of the recordings. At the same time, he showed a growing interest in producing and composing for other artists, before going solo himself with the singles "Don't Forget You Love Me" and "Call Me When You Know Better", followed by the album ORDER Chaos ORDER (2025).
